WJEC Eduqas GCSE Music
There are three elements to GCSE Music-composing, performing and appraising. These contribute towards the GCSE award as follows:
Composing 30% coursework consisting of two pieces.
Performing 30% coursework consisting of two performances.
Appraising 40% one listening exam answering questions on the eight set works as well as wider listening pieces.
During the course students study a variety of styles and genres of music, developing their performing skills in both a solo and a group context. They are also encouraged to explore a range of compositional starting points and turn them into completed pieces of music. Finally, listening and appraising skills are developed through the study of music across a variety of styles and genres. These are: Instrumental Music (1700-1820); Vocal Music; Music for Stage and Screen and Fusions.
